Blood Noir by Laurell K. Hamilton

Werewolf Jason needs to go home to his father that has only been given a few weeks to live.  Only problem is he really needs to take a woman to prove to his father that he is not gay.  His latest romance has just broken off so he is at lose ends.  Nathanial volunteers Anita and since Jason is her friend she agrees to go.

Things become really complicated when they arrive in Asheville to a feeding frenzy of media for a governor's son that Jason happens to look immensely alike.   It seems the gene pool in their community is not that varied.

As always there are vampires, weres, and a lot of other stuff going on.  This novel is back on track and interesting and I would recommend it.

Danse Macbre by Laurell K. Hamilton

Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter seems to just be hunting sex to feed the ardeur.  If you like three hundred pages of off and on sex and a lot of drama then this is the book for you.  If you like a sudden ending that really does not tie up anything, then this is the book for you.

It was not the book for me and I think I remember why I stopped reading this series.  The first five or six are good and then the quality falls off.

Blood Oath - Christopher Farnsworth

Think James Patterson meets Anne Rice at a writers conference and they have to author a book together.  Luckily it all turns out pretty good.  Christopher Farnsworth has created a new area for political thrillers and vampire obsession.   The storyline is fast paced, interesting from may standpoints and you finish wondering what happens next.

If you like a book that makes you want to yell at some of the characters or hit them in the face this is the thriller for you.  I look forward to the next installment, The President's Vampire.

Sucks To Be Me: The All True Confessions of Mina Hamilton Teen Vampire (maybe)

Mina has a life changing or is that death changing decision to make. This comes on top of deciding what to wear, the cute boy in her class, who will she go to prom with, and dealing with her weird uncle.
Kimberly Pauley gives a fun twist to the popular vampire genre.  Written in the format of a diary with snide little comments thrown in here and there it is an enjoyable read that keeps you turning the pages to see what will happen next.

Besides being a fun read written in a quirky manner Sucks to be Me goes hand in hand with the major decisions that high school student make every year. Who they date, grades, what to major in at the college they choose, all are life changing decisions.

This would be an excellent book to use in a classroom in middle or high school. With so many possible scenarios of decision making it would get students thinking about what they do today and how it affects the future.
